How to Get Rid of Smelly Shoes: A Step-by-Step Footwear Care Guide
Bad shoe odor is often caused by trapped moisture, sweat, and bacteria. With a few simple care habits, you can keep your footwear fresh, clean, and comfortable while extending its lifespan.

Step 1: Wipe Off Dirt
After every use, wipe your GLOBERS footwear(or any other leather footwear) with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth to remove dust, mud, and surface dirt. Regular cleaning prevents dirt from settling into the material and keeps your shoes looking fresh.
Step 2: Remove the Insoles (If Possible)
Take out the insoles from your GLOBERS shoes and clean them separately. This allows both the insoles and the inside of the shoes to dry properly, helping reduce moisture and odor-causing bacteria.
If Insole is pasted don’t try to pull it out just use hair dryer for few minutes in it.
Step 3: Stuff the Shoes with Waste Paper
Loosely fill your GLOBERS footwear with waste paper or old newspaper. The paper absorbs excess moisture while helping the shoes maintain their original shape during drying.
Step 4: Let Them Air Dry
Place your GLOBERS shoes in a cool, well-ventilated area. Allow them to dry naturally before wearing them again. Never store damp shoes in a closed cabinet.
Step 5: Keep Them in Mild Sunlight
If your GLOBERS footwear has absorbed moisture, place it in mild sunlight for 1–2 hours. Sunlight helps evaporate trapped moisture and naturally reduces odor-causing bacteria. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight, as excessive heat may affect the material, color, or adhesives.
Step 6: Use Baking Soda for Extra Freshness (Optional)
For persistent odors, sprinkle a small amount of baking soda inside your GLOBERS shoes and leave it overnight. Shake out the powder before wearing them again.
Step 7: Store Your Footwear Properly
Always store your GLOBERS footwear in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. Proper storage helps prevent moisture buildup, unpleasant odors, and unnecessary wear.
Step 8: Finish with Wax Polish
Once your GLOBERS leather shoes are completely clean and dry, apply a thin layer of good-quality wax polish using a soft cloth or brush. Allow it to dry for a few minutes, then buff gently to restore shine and add a protective layer. Wax polish should only be used on genuine leather footwear and should not be applied to mesh, canvas, suede, nubuck, or knitted shoes.
Keep Odors Away, Keep Your Shoes Looking New
A few minutes of proper care after every use can eliminate unpleasant odors, extend the life of your footwear, and keep every pair looking and feeling its best.
